What does our community look like in real life?

Who can explain it better than our members themselves?

“I created the first Security Talks last year to both share knowledge with my cybersecurity peers and spread the basics of my expertise with my non-technical colleagues. I conducted a workshop for the French teams on penetration testing and ethical hacking to introduce my activities as a penetration tester, the different types of attacks, tools that we use at our clients, as well as good practices to keep away from real black hat hackers. I also had the pleasure to introduce my fellow pentesters to the Bash Bunny, the world’s most advanced USB attack platform and explained how to use it. It was an incredibly rich and rewarding experience on both sides. I am passionate about my job, I love being able to share and learn and the Positive Thinking Company allows me to do just that.” -Kevin, Brussels.

“My role doesn’t stop at being a consultant: I have integrated the Security Community soon after my arrival at the Positive Thinking Company to help build solutions. My domain of expertise lies originally in governance risk compliance but I was keen on extending it to security awareness. Together with the Domain Leaders and consultants of other countries, we created a security game from scratch. To create a more impactful experience we decided to bring in virtual reality. I was then involved with experts in XR/VR to design and optimize the game scenario. The other interesting part was to work on the physical escape game. We imagined all the building blocks of it: storytelling, storyboard, challenges, gameflow, objects, level variations, etc. After creating it, we tested it and worked on supporting documents to introduce our innovative approach to customers, which they ended up loving. The making of the solution would have never been possible without the collaboration of the community. We are continuously working on improving it, bringing in modules and features based on the feedback of our client, making it a fun, co-constructed solution that solves real organization problems. ” – Samuel, Geneva.

Data & Analytics

Data & Analytics

“If we have data, let’s look at data. If all we have are opinions, let’s go with mine.” — Jim Barksdale

Data and analytics are well-known concepts, but only in recent decades has their use become democratized, both in organizations and in our daily lives. We see new tools and technologies emerging everyday, making us ask ourselves: “”How will Matt Turck be able to integrate them all into his annual Data & AI Landscape”?

On the one hand, business users are now empowered through new and accessible data analytics capabilities, increasingly leading them to realize that their decisions become more relevant when they are based on data. On the other hand, technologies and techniques for analyzing complex, voluminous data are now more accessible, and there is a growing interest in data science and AI projects that enable organizations to generate real value for their businesses.

Our data and analytics community is growing and aims to better understand the evolution of our domain and to share knowledge about cutting-edge technologies and techniques (such as MLOps, Explainable AI, Citizen Data Science, and more).

Data & Analytics Community Scope

Our community brings together passionate people focusing on three key areas:

  • Data Engineering, which comprises manipulating and processing data to make it usable and available to users, including both data scientists and business users
  • Analytics, which is about empowering business users to make better decisions through data exploration and analysis capabilities
  • Data Science, which is the mastery of advanced analysis technologies and techniques such as ML/DL to optimize and reinvent busines as we know it

Regardless of their level of experience and expertise, every member of the community has the chance to discuss, share knowledge, and offer tips and tricks to help others. Senior members of the community additionally have the chance to build, consolidate and lead training and mentoring programs.

What does our community look like in real life?

The Data & Analytics Community is expanding across the Positive Thinking Company. This expertise is very much in demand among customers. Newcomers to the community are able to follow our workshops sessions, to benefit from coaching and experience sharing and to work on internal projects. They can join active technical communities such as Data Engineering, Data Science and Self-service Analytics, as well as technology communities such as Microsoft BI, SAS and Alteryx.

Who could explain it better than our own members?

“I created the first Python for data science training track in order for data analysts, junior data scientists, or experts in other fields (cybersecurity, data visualization…) to learn some of the most important concepts of Data Science. Two sessions of this track are taking place each year, and are made of 5×2 hours not only focused on purely technical lessons but also on discussions and exchanges with the participants. This leads to an intense but lively and enriching experience!” – Benjamin, Paris

“This year we were very proud to launch the Advanced Analytics Community in order to improve knowledge sharing and collaboration among data analysts, data scientists and any ‘data-aspirant’ from Belgium and France. A lot of nice articles about machine learning algorithms, blog posts on useful libraries, data science MOOCs and Python tips&tricks have already been shared, which is a pretty good achievement during Corona.
We also launched what we call ‘Knowledge Sharing Sessions’ which are short presentations where members talk about their field of expertise in data science in a simple and interactive way. I started the series by giving a session about machine learning model deployment to production. This was a very nice and fun experience for me with the community and it was also a success for the attendees as this topic is usually not much covered in usual training courses at university or on the internet.” – Benoît, Brussels

“With the image recognition training course dynamically built by me and others within the community, we generated a highly professional program, which can be offered externally. It also enabled our working students to contribute to real projects.” – Michael, Munich

“It’s been two years since I got certified as a professional coach for analytics with SAS. Since then, I have provided numerous Trainings on Analytics for clients from various fields such as insurance, banking or manufacturing. It is a pleasure for me to train our newcomers with both solid foundations in statistics and analytics as well as practical know-how in order to give them the best possible start as data & analytics consultants.” – Nico, Karlsruhe
